Cookley Village Hall is the perfect location for a wedding reception or other function. The hall is located in the pleasant village of Cookley, 3 miles north of Kidderminster, Worcestershire. The Hall itself is situated in leafy Lea Lane on the edge of the village in a quiet location, surrounded by playing fields with countryside beyond. There is ample free car parking on site and St Peters Church is just a 3 minute walk away. There are good transport links with the M42 and M5 only 11 miles away and Kidderminster railway station is only 3 miles away.

Our hall can comfortably accommodate up to 122 people seated at 11 large circular tables for 8 or 10 people with a top table seating up to 12 people. Alternatively, around 140 people can be accommodated using rectangular tables. This allows sufficient space for a dance floor area if entertainment is required. More people can be invited in the evening up to a maximum of 200 (recommended maximum is 175). 

There is a generous sized stage for entertainment. A kitchen is available for private use or for professional caterers and has a small oven and fridge. The oven is not for full food preparation but can be used for re-heating.

A private bar is available and will be staffed by our own employees. Only drinks purchased from the bar may be consumed on the premises and adjoining grounds. No alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks are allowed to be brought onto the premises. Anyone seen to be contravening this rule will be required to leave the premises immediately. If they are attending a function the hirer will automatically lose their deposit in full. 

Our bar manager or booking manager can meet with you beforehand to discuss your requirements for drinks on arrival, and wines for the meal and toasts.

For a wedding, we include the hire of the Main Hall and adjoining Meeting Room 2 with bar. The tables and chairs will be set up to your requirements. The bar will be staffed for the hours you require and the hall will be cleared and cleaned for you after the event has finished. If you have food, you or your caterer will be expected to clear all crockery and cutlery hired from us and leave in the kitchen for us to wash. Any crockery or cutlery provided by yourselves or your caterers must be cleared and taken away on the day. 

We would very much appreciate if guests could pre-book taxi's so as to minimise the disturbance to our neighbours whilst waiting outside for its arrival.

Services not included – Table and chair decorations, catering costs, service of food and drink at tables, the supply and display of any additional room decorations or materials, entertainment, food and drinks.

Please note:

·         You are welcome to decorate the room but nothing must be attached to the fabric of the building e.g. walls and woodwork. Lighted candles or any other naked flames are not permitted. Inflated balloons cannot be left in the hall or other function rooms overnight.

·         Entertainment must not exceed Environmental Health decibel levels due to proximity of houses. DJs must connect to the sound system and 4 speakers in the hall for this reason. DJ's & Bands must contact Daryl Preece prior to an event to discuss public liability. All equipment used on premises must be PAT tested. ·         Infants under the age of 2 who will not occupy a seat do not need to be included in these numbers. 2 High chairs can be provided by the hall.

Payment Terms

The booking is only confirmed with the payment of a refundable security deposit of £100 and completion of the wedding booking form.  The deposit will be refunded in full within 14 days after the event provided there has been no unacceptable behaviour, damage, missing items, excessive noise, spillages or excessive mess.

The full wedding payment including the balance for any extras is required 28 days in advance of the wedding date.

E-mails will be sent to confirm receipt of deposits and full payment.

We do not offer credit facilities.

Any queries with regards to the costs must be raised within seven days of notification e-mail date to or in writing to the above address.

Wedding cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations of bookings must be given in writing (letter or e-mail)

and will only be effective once confirmed. The Cancellation will be effective from the day of receipt of such notice. If the Hirer needs to cancel a booking, for whatever reason, he/she will then become liable to pay the COMMITTEE a cancellation fee as follows:-

Dear Hirer

Unfortunately, due to inconsiderate use of Cookley Village Hall in the past, it has become necessary to create this reminder of some of our more important Terms and Conditions on the day of hire for our hirers:

Decorations may only be put up in the hall, corridor etc. after consultation with the bookings manager and only using Blutack or a similar product.

Sellotape is not allowed.

Fire doors must be kept closed i.e. not propped open. This includes the entrance door, doors in the corridor and double doors at the far end of the hall. Walkways and fire escape routes must be kept free from obstructions at all .

Damage - if any furniture, fixtures or fittings etc. are damaged by your guests, the cost will be taken out of your deposit payment. If the repairs exceed the deposit amount a bill will be sent to you for the difference.

Noise must be kept to reasonable limits so as not to disturb neighbours. To this end, the doors behind the stage must be shut after equipment has been delivered onto the stage. If the double sets of glass doors opening onto the verandah are opened, please be aware that this will increase noise levels outside. A decibel meter is kept behind the bar and can be used to measure music if necessary.

Discos - our sound system has been installed with a sound limiter to limit excessive noise for our neighbours, all DJs MUST use this system rather than their own and provide public liability insurance prior to playing at events.


Bands are required to keep to reasonable sound levels and not put speakers or amplifiers directly onto the stage. Please ask to use the decibel meter if sound needs to be checked.

Drunkenness and drug-taking are not acceptable and will result in the offender/s being required to leave the premises immediately and the closure of your event.

Drinks. This is a licensed premises and as such, only drinks purchased from the bar may be consumed on the premises. Anyone found to be bringing in or consuming drinks not purchased from us will be required to leave the premises immediately and your full deposit will be retained.

Waste - bin bags are available for your waste and recycling. Please separate items that can be recycled - glass, paper and cardboard, cans and plastic food trays. Please ensure all waste sacks are secured before placing in the container. Recycling should be tipped loose into the recycling container. Both waste and recycling containers can be found at the front of the building.

Cleaning up - our cleaners will clean up after your event and the cost of this is included in either your deposit payment. However, if there is excessive mess in any area and extra cleaning hours are required, a further charge will be deducted from your deposit. Any spilled drinks need to be wiped up immediately - please notify the bar staff straight away.

Parking - there is ample parking for all your guests but the yellow hatched area immediately in front of the building is for emergency vehicle access only and must not be used. If the main car park is full, please ask the bar staff for the overflow car park to be opened.

Fire safety. – Please note fire exits, fire assembly point and location of fire extinguishers and fire alarm points.


Failure to comply with any of the above Terms and Conditions will result in some or all of your deposit being retained.
